I used to work 7 days a week, owning a successful quick printing company. Yes I sometimes made money but it took a lot of hours plus worry and risk. After 18 years of hard work the IRS came and took it all. Later they said they may have done it in error. Oops, sorry! No refunds. I wasn't "downsized", I was wiped out. I had to start over from scratch. 

I looked into many ideas including starting another business, renting a location and hiring employees but that would be back to endless working and working.

I could go to school for a few years to be eligible to work for someone else and my life would be theirs to dictate. My paychecks would be the same every week. I would be miss many events because I had to work.  I would need a work car, gas, clothes, lunches and more. There would be compute time. Is what I was giving worth what I was getting?

I also saw people around me, good hearted wonderful people. Going to work every day. Coming home tired. Always broke and struggling with the bills. All on a fixed wage, little chance for an increase. (things are tight right now - you know how the economy is...) Some are going back to school so they can get a better JOB. A lot of time and money used for books, studying and going to class, all for no pay or guarantee of a job. Goal: higher pay for more servitude.

I know another very nice woman that has been working at "her" job for 23 years and she hates every day she goes to work. Rude, disrespectful bosses, lazy coworkers - it drives her nuts. Why does she stay? So she can retire in 6 more years - if it doesn't kill her before then. She has had two heart attacks already. Many people die within 1 or 2 year after retiring. Was it all worth it?

Is this the  security they seek? I would be scared to death to sign up for this plan! Things happen, they could be let go tomorrow. Oops!  There is NO security working for someone else. If you want security you have to create it.

Will they have the time to go travel for a couple weeks on a whim? No way! No work, no pay.

How much quality time do you get every day? Or do you have to go by the month for something to show up? Is what you have now the life you wanted? Would you dare get off this ride and try something new and better?

Freedom to me is very important. The freedom to live my life however I see fit as long as I don't bother or hurt anyone in the process. I would rather have freedom over security. Let me tell you a story. I caught a wild rabbit last year on my farm. A cute fuzzy brown thing with big brown eyes. I put it in a cage with the finest food and a big water dish. I figured we would both be happy buddies. I came out the next morning to see my new friend and was shocked by what I saw. The little bunny had spend all night throwing itself against the side of the cage trying to get free. The cage was moved more than 10 feet by the rabbits' futile effort. It was bleeding and exhausted. It's nose was almost rubbed off. It was horrifying. I very guiltily opened up the door so it could go free. It hopped feebly into the brush and I saw it weeks later, scars on it face but very much alive. That is how much freedom should be worth. Freedom versus a "secure" cage. Dare to get out of your comfort zone so you at least have a chance for experiencing the good things in this life.

I am curious if people are always in such a hurry, how come they are always so far behind? If they are working so hard, how come they are always broke?

I made a dream list of what I wanted - was it possible? Here's my list:

* Didn't require going to school, getting a license or permission.

* I could start today. Dress comfortably. Work any hours. No driving.

* Would be a fun creative work where I would enjoy using my creativity.

* Did not require me to trade dollars for hours.

* Could earn money from any location. If I moved nothing was lost.

* I could easily add new products and income streams to it.

* I could reach many people with small effort on short notice.

* Create/sell excellent products with NO production or delivery costs.

* Could all be automated. No daily work - all job duties automated.

* There was no limit to how much I could earn.

* I could work anywhere, go traveling, get more ideas for new products.

I studied hard and asked many questions. What I found worked great was an Internet web site. I can earn money 24 / 7 from customers anywhere in the world. There is almost nothing for me to do but create new product and promote. Everything is automated - I can go on vacation with no loss of income.

A person just has to say "I'm going to try this, start in a small way and do it." Don't just dismiss the idea hoping to be satisfied with a job. If you do you limit yourself to a small future.

Knowledge and courage made the difference for me. Now I am debt free, never have to work, am free to travel on a whim, can do what I want each day. I can stay in bed with a hot cup of tea and read my favorite Countryside Magazine. Everyday is like a holiday. I can go to cheap uncrowded movie matinee's, go on cheap last minute trips (Singapore $80RT). Things don't cost much when you don't have to follow the crowds. * Information that solves a problem. Curing an illness, getting rid of gophers, favorite family recipes or a novel way to earn money, etc. Write an ebook!

* Software Do you have an good idea? Free-lance programmers will create it for you cheaply. You can also create training CD's helping people figure out their software. Perhaps a children's stories on CD.  Once you create one product you will not have the time to do all the ideas you come up with.
