A-1 VACATIONS
Frequently asked Questions
Q: Why should I own a timeshare?
A: Very simply put...to save thousands of dollars on your future vacations! Stay
in $2500 a week resorts for under $500 a week - much cheaper than a plain hotel room. You
stay in much nicer, fully furnished condos suites, not hotel rooms. Also save 17% on hotel
taxes.
Q: How do I go about doing that?
A: First of all, buy in the resale market. You will save up to 75%!
Q: How can this be possible?
A: Well, when you go to the resorts, it costs 50% of the retail amount just to
market it. You pay for 9 out of 10 people that dont buy. How do you think they can
give away all that free stuff? Secondly, about 25% goes right into the developers pocket.
The other 25% is what it actually costs to build and maintain that unit.
Q: Wow, can I really save that
much?
A: Indeed! I know its hard to believe, but once you have purchased at the
resort your timeshare is worth about 25 cents on the dollar. It pays to shop around.
Q: Does it really matter if I buy a
Gold Crown?
A: No, what matters is the area you buy in. Youve heard the
realtors famous
quip: location, location, location. Then, it all depends on supply and demand. For
example: There are VERY few 2 bedroom timeshares in Maui, but if you own a studio there,
RCI will give you whatever is available that you want because they need that unit so
badly. There is such a high demand that its trading value goes up considerably. Problem is
in Maui, they are very expensive and yearly dues are expensive.
Q: What are my other things should
I think about when purchasing a timeshare?
A: The biggest thing you should consider is the yearly maintenance fees. In the
United States, they average about $400-$700 for a good resort.
Q: What are the biggest mistakes
buyers make?
A: That is easy. They get too smart for themselves buying a cheap timeshare
"Wow, only $995!" They are totally blind to the $500+ yearly maintenance fees.
When they get their whopping bill in January they wake up. Also these cheap timeshare are
often fixed time weeks during the lowest worst seasons or places that have the very worst
trading power. They are paying $500 a year and cant trade into anything except maybe
another crummy property. Have you been dreaming about Boonestown, SC, next to the failed
mall? Neither has anyone else. I get calls all the time - what do I do now? The fees are
eating me up and I havent gone on even one good vacation. Total wasted money!
Q: What works best?
A: Find places with strong international appeal.
Q: Is it hard to trade timeshare
weeks?
A: We will teach you the best trade secrets to get what you want and show you
where the lowest maintenance fees are located to keep your costs at a minimum.
Q: Where are the best traders
located?
A: I suggest South Africa. It is the most requested vacation destination in the whole RCI
system for Europeans to visit. Remember, they dont just go on vacation, they go on
Holiday for about 6-8 weeks a year. This is their favorite place to vacation. Where
Americans choose Hawaii or the Caribbean for their honeymoon, the Europeans chose South
Africa. They have been going there for 3 centuries now, and what used to be only for the
rich and famous, it is now affordable for the common man. Add that to the fact they are
avoiding flying to the states since 9/11.
Q: Is it stable over there?
Ive heard so many things...
A: Tourism has replaced Gold and even Diamonds as its Gross National Product and
is climbing more and more every day! It is exotic, warm, tropical, with the most beautiful
display of fauna, flowers, vineyards, mountains, and waterfalls. It has the most
spectacular scenery in the world! Dont forget the wild animals! Add to that, it is
also the cheapest place to go to. The dollar goes a LONG way there making it especially
more popular!
Q: Do I ever have to go to the
resort I own?
A: No, you bank your week into a huge pool with RCI. Someone somewhere will take
your week and you will go to the resort you want to go to.
Q: How much does it cost to trade
your week?
A: RCI charges you an exchange fee. $139 inside the US or Canada or $169 to trade outside
of the country. Considering South African maintenance fees are from to $100-$200 this
makes your week costing you about $230-$300 for the whole week to stay in a plush
condominium.
Q: What are my recurring charges?
A: Once you have paid for your timeshare, you never have to pay that again. The
only thing you pay is your yearly maintenance fee, your exchange fee and keeping up your
RCI membership.
Q: What is RED, WHITE and BLUE
time?
A: RED is prime time and the only season I recommend buying so you can trade into
prime time. WHITE time is medium demand and BLUE is low demand. Who wants to go to Palm
Spring In August?
Q: Does someone have to request my
week before I can make a trade?
A: No, once RCI accepts your space bank deposit, your deposit will go into the
space bank pool.
Q: What does Gold Crown, RID, and
Standard resorts mean?
A: Gold Crown and Resort of International Distinction are RCI trademarks. These
reflect awards RCI has given to these resorts for maintaining different requirements.
Resorts without these symbols are considered standard.
Q: What is the best timeshare trade
combination?
A: That one is easy. It would have to be the lowest timeshare cost, the lowest yearly dues
and the one that will get you the resort, unit size and time period that fits you needs.
Now all you have to do is call!
