I have discovered and use a unique solar oven that cooks like a crock pot or bakes like an oven, yet weighs only 8 ounces. It’s made from a patented flexible, waterproof, durable material and folds into a lightweight 14"x14"x2" packet. It really does get hot, but will not burn your food.

A solar cooker is a great conversation piece on group or family outings. Bake treats away from home using free fuel.

Solar cookers work by focusing the sun’s rays onto a dark, heat-absorbing pot enclosed in a heat trapping, heavy duty plastic bag.

There are many styles and sizes costing $49 to $250.

Recipes

BAKED CHICKEN
1 -2 lbs. chicken pieces
Your choice marinade sauce
Bake 2-3 hours.
The chicken cooks much faster (1-2 hours) if removed from the marinade before baking, but try cooking the chicken in the sauce then spooning it over rice. Mmm! Play all afternoon and eat when you’re ready. The chicken will not overcook.

BAKED APPLE DESSERT
2 apples, sliced.
2 Tbs. brown sugar or honey
Handful of raisins
Cinnamon to taste
1 tsp. Cherry Kirsch or Brandy
Mix. Bake 1-2 hours or until soft.

BANANA NUT BREAD
Solar ovens make this bread wonderful and moist.

Baked potatoes rolled in a little oil and garlic could not be any finer - and all cooked for free!
